Creating New Concepts in Fashion

Creating New Concepts in Fashion

Kari Landen and Karin Peterson

The importance of an inspiration or concept for a fashion collection is often underrated but it is still a very necessary starting point for a strong contemporary collection. Inspiration can be found in the obvious source of historical clothing but also in nature, art, abstract forms and even a bottle of milk. On this course you will learn how to develop from one inspiring image, object or abstract thought a whole fashion collection. By looking at good and bad taste, beauty and ugliness and questioning why we make the choices we make, this course will help you to find new ways of designing and to develop your personal fashion design signature. In this course you will look at the work of contemporary fashion designers, their aesthetics and tastes which will inspire and help you to find your creative approach. Several books of personal inspiration will be produced that will feed you creatively for years.
