Melissa Gronlund
Editor & Managing Editor, Afterall
Biography
As associate editor of Afterall, I am interested in the different ways of writing about art, from the monographic to the contextual, and the ways in which critical theory and writing can address the art object as well as situate it beyond the visual arts. I am also a visiting lecturer at the Ruskin School of Drawing & Fine Art, University of Oxford; a programme advisor to the Experimenta (artist's moving image) section of the London Film Festival; and a frequent writer on art and theory.
Research Statement
My personal research centres on artist's moving image practice, Conceptual writing and poetics, and more broadly the use of language and literary tropes in the visual arts.
