Art: public realm

This group of artists, curators, writers and theoreticians are broadly speaking questioning art in the public realm that addresses the social, cultural, economic and political contexts that are re-defining what place, public and site hold for cultural production to-day.

Situated within this wide realm of interest and expertise include a wide range of multi-disciplinary initiatives and practices that find expression in local, national and international contexts, providing the potential for the development of new roles for spectatorship, intervention and collaboration in the arts and contemporary culture. Currently the imminent re-location for Central Saint Martins to Kings Cross creates a specific focus for the theoretical and practical exploration of 'artist and site' undertaken by AIR (artist responses and investigations) in collaboration with local groups and institutions.
