Research degrees

Postgraduate researchers at Central Saint Martins participate in and contribute to the broad research culture of the College and play a vital role in extending the scholarly boundaries of knowledge and practice within art and design.

Their research represents a wide spectrum of viewpoints and perspectives, and includes theoretical, historical, critical studies as well as practice-led research in art and design. The College attracts postgraduate research students from the UK and from around the world.

Central Saint Martins has built up a strong research profile in relation to the major schools of study for which the College is internationally renowned-Fine Art, Fashion and Textile Design, and Graphic and Industrial Design. The college is currently strengthening its research expertise in fine art and critical theory with tutors at the Byam Shaw School of Art and developing research capacity in drama, acting and theatre studies in conjunction with London Drama Centre. We welcome applications in these areas.
