Travel Tips: London to Barcelona

Independent Travel

It is your responsibility to book your own travel to Barcelona. We recommend you make these arrangements soon after you have received your final confirmation of your booking (about four weeks before the course starts) to ensure that you find the best price at the time you want to fly. Some carriers allow cheap one way fares and returns from other destinations without supplements (good to know, if you want to visit other countries after your course).

By plane

The easiest and cheapest way to reach the Catalan capital in about 2 hours flying south. You can use London Heathrow, Gatwick and City Airports with scheduled carriers British Airways or Iberia. Low cost carrier Easyjet also fly from London Luton, Stansted and Gatwick to Barcelona. Ryanair serves Girona airport (1.5 hours north of Barcelona by shuttle bus) from Stansted and Luton. Ryanair also serves another smaller airport at the resort of Reus near Tarragona, over an hour south of Barcelona.

By train

Taking the afternoon Eurostar train from London St Pancras station and change in Paris for the night train to Barcelona Estacio de Franca. This journey takes about 15 hours and it not as cheap as flying, but you do get to see Paris on the way.
